Berhan Projects
The Berhan Center offers year-round programs and projects that engage the community in preserving cultural heritage, educating youth, fostering intergenerational connections, and promoting overall well-being. Our activities include workshops, summer camps, gym sessions, Black History Month events, cooking projects, senior programs, family gatherings, and cultural celebrations such as the Ethiopian New Year.

Cooking Project
The Berhan Center’s cooking project was a success, engaging youth in hands-on lessons about healthy eating and traditional Ethiopian cuisine. Participants helped plan, shop, and cook meals like Injera, Shiro Wat, and Misir Wat, building life skills and cultural pride while fostering community and intergenerational connection.

Workshops
The Berhan Centre hosted several workshops, including a two-day session on family law and children for newcomers, facilitated by the Fairview Family Centre, and an age-friendly health workshop for seniors led by health professionals Solome Ejigu and Kerya Fournier. We are now launching a new mental health workshop for parents and youth focused on online bullying and strategies to protect children.
